Hon Owoeye Michael Oyeniyi, the assembly Candidate Of the People’s Democratic Party, Ikere Constituency 1, on Dec 9, kickoff a football rivalry between all youths in the constituency.
Speaking at Ikere Ekiti Stadium, to unveil the football competition in Ikere on Friday, Hon Owoeye disclosed that the competition aims to take many of the idle youths off the streets, and propel the gifted youths and exploit their passion through love, unity with a promising future driven by sports. also revealed that the competition is also aimed at bringing youths together in ikere constituency 1
According to him, “We believe that the youths are the future of the constituency and we must put all efforts to develop their talents, gifts, and potential “In the face of the challenges confronting the youths of this nation in times like this, such as unemployment, drug abuse, and being victims of all kinds of negative social vices, reaching out to them in creative and rewarding ways has become very crucial.
“It is with this reality in mind that a candidate decided to embark on this maiden edition of the U17 football competition.
This is aimed at taking many of the idle youths off the streets to exploit their passion for football with the opportunity of finding a meaningful path for their life through football with a promising future driven by sports.
“It is known today that, some of the top football clubs in the English premier league like Manchester city football club and several others started with street competition, community to-community competition.
“In the coming match the competition seeks to galvanize a professionally establish football team for ikere Constituency 1 and ready to contact an international sports organization to support the vision after his emergency as the House of Assembly representing Ikere Constituency 1.
While highlighting the event, he said the tournament is the first of its kind in ikere Constituency 1 and would feature clubs
Also, the competition will last for weeks as trophies, medals, and many other prizes are expected to be won.
