I have premonition that Aribisogan will be the speaker – Afuye

The former deputy governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, now a stalwart of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Comrade Idowu Afuye has said he has a premonition that Aribisogan will be the speaker.

Hon Gboyega Aribisogan, who represents Ikole Constituency 1, has been elected as the new Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.
He was elected Speaker at plenary on Tuesday following the demise of the former Speaker, the Late Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye who died last month after a brief illness.

Hon. Aribisogan polled 15 votes against 10 votes for Hon. Olubunmi Adelugba who represents Emure Constituency to win the election.
Aribisogan was nominated by Hon Tajudeen Akingbolu, Ekiti West 1, and seconded by Hon Adegoke Olajide, Efon Constituency while Hon Bode Adeoye Oyekola, Ekiti West 2 nominated Hon Olubunmi Adelugba and was seconded by Hon Ojo Martin, Ijero constituency.
Hon. Afuye revealed that the emergence of Hon Aribisogan was a good development, saying earlier, he said the contender with Aribisogan was just a person who could not contend with Aribisogan in pedigree.
Afuye said a person contesting for the house of representative that could not have a single vote from delegates from his area cannot emerge as speaker.
Afuye further congratulated the new speaker on his emergence, while wishing him a successful stay in office.
