Bandits have invaded the famous Bakura Agricultural College in Zamfara State, kidnapping an unknown number of students.
Globalgistng reported that the attackers stormed the school grounds on Sunday night, firing sporadically before hauling the victims away.
It was also discovered that the assailants had a gunfight with several security forces in the vicinity, which resulted in the deaths of policemen.
As of press time, the incident’s details were still unclear.
SP Muhammed Shehu, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, verified the tragic occurrence when contacted.
He was unable to provide specifics on the incident, adding that the command will “issue a statement later.”
Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, confirmed the event in a post on Monday morning on his verified Twitter profile.
“We awoke to the tragic news of mass abductions of students and staff at the college of Agriculture Bakura, Zamfara State, last night,” the post says.
Some security guards were also slain by the bandits. Another catastrophe has occurred. Where are our security apparatuses with all these defence budgets?”
