Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted the Niger State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mallam Idris Mohammed.
The Commissioner was abducted on Sunday night by heavy armed men who invaded his residence at Baban Tunga, Tafa local government area of the State.
The armed men said to be numbering about 20, stormed the residence of the Commissioner at about 11: 00am under a heavily downpour and shot sporadically into the air before abducting their victim in front of his second wife.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun could not be reached as at press time.
Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central at the 8th National Assembly, has said no Nigerian is safe from kidnappers.
The former lawmaker made the remark while reacting to the report of the abduction of the Commissioner of Information and Strategy in Niger State on Monday morning.
The unknown gunmen, in the early hours of Monday, invaded the residence of the commissioner, Mallam Idris Mohammed, and whisked him away.
Reacting to the incident via a Facebook post, the former lawmaker condemned the incident, describing it as tragic.
Shehu Sani wrote, “The abduction of the Niger State commissioner of Information is tragic.This further attest to the fact that no one is safe.
My prayers to him and other students of the Tegina Islamic school still in the hands of their abductors.
“The federal and state governments must wake up and address this consuming danger”.
