There were palpable fears in Ikere Ekiti, in the Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti, on Monday, as unidentified armed men suspected of being Fulani herdsmen shot dead a man named Ademola Afolayan at a poultry farm.
According to reports compiled by Globalgistng, the incident occurred on Monday evening around 5:00 pm.
Sources said that militants numbering about 5 people invaded a poultry farm located at a place called Eselemo farm in the town, Igbooka area of Ikere- Akure road, shooting from time to time, and in the process killed a man called Ademola Afolayan.
Also it was reported by Globalgistng that two people narrowly escaped the incident.
A source who witnessed the incident said “ ” We were at the poultry farm at about 5: 00 pm after it started raining, I saw armed people through the window, numbering about 5 people. They used a mask to cover their face.
“I told my elder brother but h“I told my older brother, but he couldn’t walk faster because he was an old man. I escaped through the window.
“But Demola was not in the hut (Aba), he went to the poultry farm to feed his pigs.
“Immediately after the gunmen saw Demola with a cutlass, when he was walking from poultry, to feed the pigs, they shot him.
“And took the old man in the hut away.
But when the gunmen discovered that the old man did not have a phone and he could not walk faster, they let him go.
The body of Ademola Afolayan has been deposited in the morgue at the State Specialist Hospital Ikere Ekiti.
