BREAKING: Gunmen Kidnaps Traditional Ruler

Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits on Tuesday evening reportedly abducted a traditional ruler, the Adogu of Eganyi, Mohammed Adembe along on the Okene -Eganyi Road in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.

It was gathered the monarch was returning to his community from Okene, also in Kogi, when he was kidnapped.

According to the report, the monarch slowed down his car at one of the potholes on the road; the gunmen emerged from a nearby bush and started shooting sporadically into the air, thereby forcing him to a stop.

Gunmen, on Wednesday, July 1, attacked the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Lokoja, Kogi state, and disrupted a COVID-19 press conference

Confirming the incident, a police spokesman in Kogi, DSP William Aya, said that Adembe was kidnapped at about 5:20 pm on the Okene -Eganyi Road.

He explained that the gunmen took advantage of the bad spots on the road to kidnap the traditional ruler.

He said, “His car slowed down at one of the potholes on the road; the gunmen emerged from a nearby bush and started shooting sporadically into the air, thereby forcing him to a stop.

“Other occupants of the vehicle were spared as the gunmen marched only the traditional ruler into the bush,’’ Aya explained.

He further stated that policemen were already combing the surrounding area and the bush to rescue the victim and reunite him with his community.
