Hours after he led a protest against the ongoing detention of colleague Olanrewaju Omiyinki, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, actor Yomi Fabiyi was sued by colleague Iyabo Ojo.
The actress through her lawyers, The Maverick Forte Legal, is suing Fabiyi for defamatory statements made against her during the course of the protest.
Ojo took to her official page on Instagram with photos showing the legal papers. A particular reference was made to defamatory statements which were written out on placards displayed by Fabiyi and other protesters on the protest ground.
The said inscription on the placard read:
“Nigeria police please allow the law to dictate to you, not Iyabo Ojo, Princess and co. Please release Baba Ijesha.
“Iyabo Ojo and Princess promised to kill Baba Ijesha if released on bail in this era?”
The actress’ lawyers also made it clear that Ojo categorically denied making any of the statements which were displayed on the placards.
“Our client, therefore, deny making such a statement to kill Mr Olanrewaju Omiyinka alias Baba Ijesha nor to unlawfully interfere with statutory responsibilities of the Nigeria Police Force.”
Fabiyi has been ordered to retract the defamatory statements made against the actress and desist from following a similar course of action in future.
The actor has also been demanded to pay the sum of N100 million in damages to the Nollywood actress.

Reacting to the court letter on his Instagram page, Fabiyi shared the picture of a movie poster on which seemed to be his attempt at making light of the situation.
