Gunmen Attack Ex-CBN Chief Soludo, Whereabouts Unknown, Three Police Aides Killed

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Charles Soludo was reportedly attacked by unknown gunmen and killed three policemen guarding him.

The incident took place in his community, Isuofia, in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State during a meeting with the youths of the community.

Eyewitnesses told Globalgistng that Soludo was safe but his whereabouts was unknown.

The incident took place in his community, Isuofia, in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State during a meeting with the youths of the community.

Eyewitnesses told WazobiaReporters that Soludo was safe but his whereabouts was unknown.

The eyewitness said, “Gunmen disrupted an interactive session between Isuofia youths and Soludo at the town’s civic centre. Three policemen were reportedly shot dead in the meeting.”

A media aide to Soludo, who pleaded not to be identified, also confirmed the incident.

He said, “I can’t confirm the whereabouts of Professor Soludo. There was a stampede, I don’t know where Soludo is now.

“I only learnt that the state Commissioner for Public Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, was taken away but I have not heard about the whereabouts of Soludo.”

When contacted by our correspondent, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, also confirmed the incident.

“The incident happened but as of now (8.15pm) I’m still gathering information about the incident,” he said.

Soludo, of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, is a frontline aspirant in the November 6 governorship poll in the state.
