The bandits abducted an unknown number of students, mostly women, in Kaduna.
The abduction took place on Thursday evening at the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization in Mando, according to BBC Hausa.
The report quoted a witness as saying that armed gunmen invaded the campus around 11: 30 p.m. and fired shots.
Despite the proximity of the institution to the military base and the Nigerian Defense Academy, the bandits managed to lead their victims away almost without resistance.
Another witness, who lives close to the school, told the BBC that the gunmen kidnapped mostly female students during the attack.
“Close to half of the female students were whisked away by the bandits to an unknown location during the attack,” the witness said.
Mohammed Jalige, a police spokesman in Kaduna, confirmed the abduction on Friday morning.
“Yes, it’s true. We are now on top of the situation. We have yet to determine the specific number of students who have been removed from the school,” Mr. Jalige said.
It was gathered that other students of the school were evacuated to the NDA, a few meters away from the school.
