Catholics in prayer mood for the release of kidnapped Bishop

The Catholic Archdiocese of Imo State has solicited prayers from God’s people across Nigeria for the safe release of Auxiliary Bishop, Moses Chikwe.

The Archdiocese is praying that the aged Bishop is released without being hurt by his abductors.

Most Rev. Anthony Obinna, the Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Ecclesiastical Province, made the request in a statement dated 28th December 2020 and signed by Rev. Monsignor Alphonsus Oha.

Recall that Bishop Chikwe was abducted in the evening of Sunday, 27th December 2020 at Site and Services, New Owerri, Imo State.

Meanwhile, the Catholic community in the state is in deep fear as the abductors of the Bishop are yet to communicate or make any demands.

Also, It was earlier reported by Gtlobalgistnghat Gunmen have kidnapped an Ibadan based business man, Mr. Wole Agboola.

It was learnt that the gunmen stormed Abaodo Area, Olukitibi village, in Akinyele Local Government Area and kidnapped Mr. Agboola.

Our correspondent gathered that Agboola was abducted on Sunday.

The abduction of Mr. Agboola comes a few days after the kidnap of Babalola Jumoke Oludele, a sister to a member of the State House of Assembly, Sunkanmi Babalola.

Our correspondent gathered that the abductors, who were in army uniform, took Mr. Agboola to an unknown destination.

The victim was taken away at gunpoint from his farm located around the Kola Daisi University, on the Ibadan-Oyo Express road axis of the State.
