Insecurity: Frustrated politicians sabotaging Buhari’s effort, says Popular Bishop

Bishop Pinto Ogbaji, has warned that those working to frustrate the Buhari administration will not go unpunished

A Nigerian cleric, Bishop Pinot Ogbaji, has condemned the alleged attempt by some unpatriotic individuals to undermine the efforts by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Bishop Ogbaji alleged that some individuals are sabotaging the efforts of the administration in the area of fighting insurgency, banditry, and protecting the lives and property of Nigerians across the country.

In a statement signed by the Bishop and seen by Legit.ng, Ogbaji said those trying to sabotage the efforts of the government will not go unpunished.

He also said that anyone who is part of the saboteurs or those planning to join them in frustrating the present administration will soon be exposed.

The Bishop said Nigeria has been ordained as a land where citizens will continue to live in peace with one another and that no arrow from the kingdom of darkness shall counter that.

However, he said some politicians are working round the clock trying to undermine the efforts of the current administration despite the much achieved in the war against insurgency and banditry.

Bishop Ogbaji alleged that part of the plot involves reenacting some of the security breaches recorded during past administrations to make it look like the current one has not done anything differently.

Buhari also commended his former Aide-de-Camp, Alhaji Mustapha Jokolo, who used his initiative to put the parley together. Speaking, Jokolo said though the departure of the former staff from government was “unexpected and disappointing, if not regrettable,” the affected people recall the ugly experiences today, “not with bitterness because individually, they had since moved on with their lives, though painfully aware that they were victims of misplaced aggression.” “The fact that among us today are highly respected Royal Fathers, businessmen, captains of industry, lawyers and other specialists in the professions, and a university professor, speaks volumes that God is good and that values of discipline and perseverance that we imbibed under Your Excellency’s tutelage had not been in vain,” he said.

His words:

“If you look at what is going on in the country, you will see that virtually all the security issues of the past administration are being replicated with a near or worse parallel.”

“The massacre at Zabarmari in Borno was reenacted to give the impression that something gory on the scale of the murder of students at Buni Yadi which happened during the last administration has also happened now while the abduction of students at Kankara in Katsina state, is to also tar the image of the Buhari administration with something as gruesome as the abduction of the Chibok girls in the last administration.”

He said his interaction with people in the northeast region of Nigeria reveals a deep appreciation of what President Buhari has done to secure the lives of citizens.

Bishop Ogbaji said:

“Go to the epicentre of the war against insurgency which is the northeast and hear what the people are saying about how Buhari has helped secure communities and you won’t fail to commend this administration for what it has done to improve security in the country.”

He further called on well-meaning Nigerians to be vigilant and to expose all forms of sabotage to the relevant security agencies.
