Governor Seyi Makinde flags off light up Oyo State Phase II

The phase II of Operation Light Up Oyo State project was today flagged off by the Executive Governor of Oyo State Engr. Seyi Makinde.

The project flag off is the continuation of the initiative of the Executive Governor to ensure that all major streets across the State are properly illuminated at night.
The program started on a high note with lovely songs from the Ogbomoso born Fuji icon, Wasiu Agara to the excitement of the Deputy Governor Engr. Rauf Olaniyan and the waiting audience.
Shortly after, the Governor arrived in his entourage and the shout of “Seyi e da” rented the atmosphere.
The program commenced immediately after the Governor’s arrival with opening prayer from, National and Oyo Anthems.
The welcome and Goodwill speech was delivered by the Vice Chancellor of LAUTECH, Prof. Ologunde.
The VC described Engr. Seyi Makinde as the new face of good and credible governance. He commended the Governor for his commitment in putting LAUTECH among the best Universities in Nigeria.
He posited that the reconstruction of Under G. road would not only revive the economic activities of the town but would also minimize the traffic congestion at the main gate thereby reduce the rate of accident always witnessed on the road.
The V.C. said the acrimony GSM had been adopted by the University community to mean “GOD SENT MESSIAH”.

Hon. Temi Adibi, the Director General, Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency also described the Governor as a true democrat and a pace setter of development in the state. He thanked the Governor for his kind gesture and generosity. He ledge and unreserved support to the administration of the Governor.
The ovation sound loudest when Hon. Adibi announced that the Governor has ordered the Caretaker Chairman Ogbomoso North Local Government, Hon. Ajagbe Ibrahim Abiodun to immediately repair Takie-Apake road with a promise to provide everything needed for the smooth and standard reconstruction of the road.
The crowd went into wild jubilation again as the Governor mounted the podium to give his speech. The Governor reacted to placards displayed by some market women on the adverse effects of COVID-19 on their businesses and promised to assist them in every possible ways.

Engr. Makinde expressed high sense of fulfilment and satisfaction at the flag-off of the Supply and Installation of Smart LED Streetlights along strategic places in the State tagged “Operation Light-Up Oyo State Phase II and reconstruction of Under G- Stadium- LAUTECH second gate road project which is about 3.0km.
He stated that when completed will enhance the socio economic status of the people along the road corridor, reduction in travel time and cost of vehicle operations and maintenance. It will also reduce to the minimum the rate of insecurity prevalent in the country.
The project will be financed by Messrs. LEDco Allied Enterprises with the State Government contributing 10% as counterpart find and the repayment made gradually while the project will be delivered in 9 months.
The Governor thanked his teaming supporters and the entire residents of Oyo State and the cut the tape for the kick start of the project “Operation Light-Up Oyo State Phase II”.
