The FBI has apologized for posting on Twitter a link to a file containing a fictitious anti-Semitic document.
This is the “Protocol of the Elders of Zion”, which describes the alleged plans of the Jewish people to establish world domination and the destruction of Christian values. A link to the document without any comments was posted in the FBI Records Vault account.
The department said that some publications in this account appear automatically after being placed in the FBI archive.
This post has now been removed, but after being published with an apology, it was available to users and received more than 16 thousand retweets, the Washington Post notes . People called this behavior irresponsible, and also pointed out that the document, without any comments, only strengthens anti-Semitic sentiments.
