The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released a list of 17 candidates, their election running mate, and parties running for Governor of Ondo state.
The Commission published a preliminary list on its website on Friday. These parties include the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) and the main opposition people’s Democratic party (PDP).
However, parties can replace their candidates by August 18, and numerous sources in the Zenith labor party tell Globalgistng that the party will replace its candidate with Agboola Ajayi, the current Deputy Governor of Ondo, who lost in the PDP primaries.
The online newspaper reported that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu is seeking a second term in office under the APC banner, while his main Challenger at the time of writing is Eyitayo Jegede of the PDP. Mr Jegede finished second in the 2016 state election.

The Ondo governorship election holds on October 10.
