The recent primary elections for the People’s Democratic party (PDP) put the party in danger of losing the upcoming gubernatorial election to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state.
Globalgistng reports that the primary election was heavily angered by the huge financial incentives.
Governor Seyi Makinde and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar were allegedly involved in soliciting funds in favour of Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), the winner of the primaries and the PDP’s standard-bearer in Ondo state against a high-profile call by the Ondo South to nominate the next Governor.
Globalgistng learned on Saturday morning that most PDP leaders in the South of Ondo are already in talks with Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, while it turned out that some other groups of leaders are already gathering forces together with former Governor Olusegun Mimiko for the appearance of a third force that will nominate a southern candidate before the elections on October 10 this year.
The findings showed that it was the turn of the southern district of Ondo state to produce a Governor. The source hinted that the PDP shot itself in the foot by presenting a candidate from an unfavorable Central senatorial district, while the South, which was PDP stronghold, was unfairly stripped of the party’s ticket.
Globalgistng gathered that those who negotiate with Governor Akeredolu believe that the Governor only has four years to spend, which means that southerners will only wait four years to take their turn, while those who are against Jegede are of the opinion that the southern part of Ondo state cannot wait 8 years for Eyitayo Jegede in the center after 8 years of continuous tenor of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko.

The Globalgistng investigation also revealed that those who favor a third force are opposed to both Jegede and Governor Akeredolu.
A former party Chairman who admitted anonymity told Globalgistng that Ondo South is the base of the PDP, while Ondo North is the base of the ruling APC, while the Central part is divided between the two main political parties.
It was also reported that the political party is the one that will put in place the correct political equation, which will win the Governor’s seat on October 10.
