Trump has sent Federal forces to fight crime in US cities

Additional Federal forces will be sent to American cities to combat rampant crime, US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday, July 22.
Hundreds of law enforcement officers will be sent to Chicago, Illinois.
In addition, as part of operation Legend, Federal law enforcement officers will be sent to other cities where there have been spikes in violence and unrest, Globalgistng reports.
Earlier on Wednesday, it was reported that Federal law enforcement officers were sent to Portland.

The acting head of the US Department of Homeland Security said that the local guards were inactive.
Trump has been warning for weeks about the possible involvement of Federal forces to contain protesters against police brutality and racial discrimination after the death of African-American George Floyd. At the end of May, the man died during police custody.
