The governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) rejected suggestions that the dissolution of the NWC party’s National Working Committee was aimed at Bola Tinubu.
It has been suggested that the NWC was dissolved to reduce Bola Tinubu’s influence in the APC due to his alleged plan to become the party’s presidential candidate in 2023.
But Kebbi state Governor Abubakar Bagudu, who is the Chairman of the Progressive Governor’s Forum (PGF), told reporters on Thursday, June 25 that the NWC was dissolved to address some problems in the party.
Bagudu said that all party members, including Tinubu, are working in unity to save the party from the current crisis.
The Governor said that no party member is happy with the current challenges facing the party.
Meanwhile, the civil society organization Center for public trust (CPT) complained that the current crisis in the ruling All progressives Congress(APC) is the work of organized centrifugal forces interested in seizing the presidential post in 2023.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Group’s acting senior program officer, Mr. Simon Pam, entitled: the APC Crisis: the hand of Esau and the voice of Jacob.
The non-profit group expressed concerns about the turn of events in the agribusiness sector and predicted that the crisis in Edo state could lead to unnecessary bloodshed during the upcoming elections.
They called on security agencies to be on the alert to prevent any outbreak of unrest.
In addition, the statement warned Nigerians to know that those behind the current crisis are part of a conspiracy “coordinated and funded by a man who wants the soul of the APC to pearl the nest of its 2023 ambitions at all costs.”
“This well-known merchant of evil and Apostle of primitive accumulation should clarify the situation and stop the proxy war right now, ” the group said.
The group further stated that many observers are waiting and closely following the catastrophic explosion of the APC.
According to the statement, ” the characters who are the faces of the crisis, especially Igo Aguma and Hillard Etta, are dubious political hard workers with a long history of duplicity.”the Group noted that while they are not obligated to interfere in the internal Affairs of a political party, astute Nigerians can see through what is happening.
The group warned what it called political traffickers to give suffering Nigerians some time to cope with the ongoing medical and economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ruling party has become embroiled in several shades of political conflict between rival forces in the upcoming Edo state elections.
The CPT said it will be deploying two hundred election observers during the forthcoming elections in Edo and Ondo states.
