Updated “charged” models of Mercedes-AMG E 63

The most powerful versions complete the cycle of updating the Mercedes E-class, which began in March with the premiere of the restyled sedan and station wagon. Moreover, the Mercedes-AMG E 63 debuted almost simultaneously with its main competitor, the upgraded BMW M5 sedan. And this is the latest AMG model, which was presented by the current head of the division Tobias Moers: soon he will leave his post and will head the company Aston Martin from August 1.

“Sixty-three” tried on the same design as the less powerful modifications, but with the same feature: the front part of the body is different. The opening of the hood is smaller, and its leading edge does not reach the headlights. The air intakes are now even larger, and the front wings have become more “plump”: if previously the increase in width relative to the base E-class was 17 mm, now it is 27 mm. The wheel design has been changed: the standard E 63 version has 19-inch wheels, and the E 63 s version has 20 — inch wheels.

The interior is updated in the same way as other “eshek”. The new steering wheel – with double side spokes, as an option, wide displays of the virtual dashboard and media system with a diagonal of 12.3 inches each (the S-version has this basic equipment), the standard screens are the same, at 10.25 inches. The new multimedia system itself is the MBUX system with advanced voice control, which previously appeared on almost all models of the brand.

There are almost no technical changes. The V8 4.0 Biturbo engine on the Mercedes-AMG e 63 sedan and station wagon develops 571 HP and 750 Nm, and on the E 63 s versions produces 612 HP and 850 Nm. The AMG Speedshift MCT transmission, based on the 9g-Tronic nine-speed automatic with a planetary series, has a wet clutch instead of a torque Converter. A 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive transmission with a clutch on the front axle.

The only update is the replacement of the rear mechanical “self-locking” version of the E 63 with an electronically controlled differential, which previously only relied on the S-version. But the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S retained another feature — the drift mode, in which the clutch is opened preemptively, the transmission operates in manual mode, and the stabilization system “falls asleep”. Air suspension with adaptive shock absorbers, as before, is available in all versions.

Dynamic characteristics are the same. The Mercedes-AMG e 63 sedan can accelerate to “hundreds” in 3.5 s, and the e 63 s version – in 3.4 s. Similar station wagons are slower by only 0.1 s. the Maximum speed is limited by electronics: 250 km/h for the standard “sixty-third”, 300 km/h for the S-sedan and 290 km / h for The s-station wagon.

Updated AMG models are already available for ordering. In Russia, from this Quartet, only the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S sedan will appear at a price of 8.8 million rubles. And the coupe and convertible E-class powerful “sixty-third” modifications will still not be.
