The debut of the upgraded “five” BMW took place less than a month ago, and the company has already shown the updated BMW M5 sedan, and at once in two versions-standard and extreme Competition.
This efficiency is explained by the fact that emki has minimal technical changes. A metamorphosis in the exterior and interior are almost the same as the base model.
The sedan has a new diode lighting technology with L-shaped running lights (matrix headlights and laser-phosphor high beam are offered for an additional fee), other bumpers and enlarged nostrils with a Central jumper. The new front fenders are no longer made of aluminum, but of carbon fiber (previously this material was used only for the roof panel). Signs of the Competition version (the red car in the photos) are the same: it is a black decor and a spoiler on the trunk lid.
Following the basic “five”, the BMW M5 has acquired new virtual devices and a media system with the BMW OS 7.0 operating system and a 12.3-inch screen (previously it was 10.25 inches). The projection display now has two display modes: they change along with switching the settings of the driving electronics. With the new M Mode key (like the BMW M8), the driver can choose one of the preset complex modes (Road, Sport, and the M5 Competition version also has Track), and the two individual configurations can still be attached to the red M-buttons on the steering wheel.
The power unit is the same. The standard BMW M5 sedan has a V8 4.4 Biturbo engine that produces 600 HP and 750 Nm, while the M5 Competition version has 625 HP and the same 750 Nm, although in a slightly wider range of crankshaft speeds. In the transmission — eight-speed “automatic” and all-wheel drive M xDrive with a clutch connecting the front axle. The settings have saved the rear-wheel drive mode, which is activated when the stabilization system is disabled. The Competition variant still has more rigid powertrain supports (900 instead of 580 N / mm).
The chassis of the standard “emki” has not changed, but the M5 Competition version has been shaken up. This sedan has previously had rigid ball joints instead of rubber-metal joints, increased camber angle of the front wheels, more rigid stabilizer mounts and reduced clearance by 7 mm, and now installed new shock absorbers from the M8 Gran Coupe model and changed settings. The result should be an even more driver-friendly ride.
Dynamic characteristics are the same. The base BMW M5 accelerates to 100 km / h in 3.4 s, and 200 km/h changes in 11.1 s.the Indicators of the M5 Competition version are 3.3 s and 10.8 s. the Maximum speed is limited by default at 250 km/h, and to raise the ceiling to 305 km/h, you need to order the m Driver’s Package.
Sales of updated ” EMOS “will begin simultaneously with the civil” fives”, that is, in July. Prices in Germany – from 121 thousand euros for the BMW M5 and from 130 thousand euros for the BMW M5 Competition. Only the Competition version is available on the Russian market, but the price of the restyled car has not yet been announced.
