The new Nissan Rogue, aka the future X-Trail, is unveiled

In North America, the well-known Nissan x-Trail crossover is sold as the Nissan Rogue, and the company introduced the new-generation car in the overseas version. The fresh Rogue flaunts two-story led optics and more athletic shapes, and it also has two-color body paint options for the first time.

The crossover has slightly lost weight: the length of the American version is reduced from 4686 to 4648 mm, and the height – from 1727 to 1699 mm. But the width remained the same (1839 mm). And the wheelbase has not changed: the same 2705 mm as the current model. Nevertheless, the company announced a new version of the CMF-C/D modular platform with a modified design of the rear multi-link suspension. The rack-mounted electric power steering is also new.

And Nissan also spoke about a more effective aerodynamic design: the configuration of the flaps under the bottom is optimized, and in front of the radiator there are blinds that open only when necessary on the command of electronics. However, the claimed CX coefficient with the change of generation has become greater: 0.331 against 0.327 for the previous model. You can choose from wheels with a diameter of 17 to 19 inches.

The rear doors now open almost 90 degrees, which is especially convenient when installing a child seat. And in the back row, there are now three sets of ISOFIX mounts at once. And Keyless access buttons are now available not only on the front, but also on the back doors: a single click opens the lock of this particular door, and a double click unlocks all the locks.

There are big changes in the cabin. The transmission is controlled by a joystick without mechanical connection to the gearbox, so the Central tunnel is now two — level-with a spacious “basement”. The basic instrument cluster – with analog scales and a seven-inch screen (previously there was a five-inch screen), but for an additional fee, fully virtual devices are offered on a 12.3-inch screen. Another option is a 10.8 — inch projection display. The media system has a nine-inch touchscreen and a carplay wireless connection.

The standard package includes ten airbags and a safety Shield 360 system – automatic braking, high-beam control, tracking markings and blind spots, as well as a rear-view camera (for a round-trip view you need to pay extra). Adaptive cruise control can now resume driving itself after a 30-second stop instead of the previous model’s three-second stop. Three-zone climate control was introduced for the first time among the options. And the American Rogue has a heated steering wheel and rear sofa, although this equipment first appeared two years ago in the Russian Ixtrail.

The trunk volume has not changed: the same 1113 liters when measured from floor to ceiling according to the American SAE standard. But with the folded back row, the compartment became larger: 2098 liters against 1982 liters. The electric drive of the fifth door can now be activated by kicking under the bumper. At the service of rear passengers — curtains on the Windows of the doors.

In America, the Nissan Rogue is offered with a single 2.5-liter petrol engine, which has changed from distributed injection to direct injection and now produces 184 HP and 245 Nm (previously there were 172 HP and 237 Nm). The Xtronic variator is the same, but the all-wheel drive versions have a new electro-hydraulic coupling for connecting the rear wheels, which works faster than the previous one. The front-wheel drive versions have three driving modes (Standard, Eco, Sport), while the all-wheel drive versions have added Off-road and Snow.

In the American market, new crossovers Nissan Rogue locally produced will begin selling in the fall. But the international X-Trail of the new generation will have to wait, and in Russia even longer than in other countries, because the updated SUV of the current generation reached us with a long delay.
