Hushpuppi facing repatriation from the UAE to Nigeria

The international police of Nigeria (Interpol) plans to extradite Instagram celebrity Raymond Igbalodeli, known as Hushpuppi, from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Nigeria to face charges of multiple fraud, the Global Gist Nigeria reported on Friday.

Interpol is also on the trail of other associates of the alleged fraud who are resident in Nigeria to bring them to justice.

Interpol’s police Commissioner (CP) Garba Umar revealed them to Global Gist Nigeria yesterday, confirming the arrest of Igbalodeli, whose real name is said to be ramoni Igbalode.

He said: “Is it true that Hushpuppy was arrested by Interpol. We are currently working to bring him to Nigeria on fraud charges.

“Some crimes were committed here in Nigeria, and he must answer for them. He is not alone in this; there are accomplices in the country that we are now leading on their trail, ” KP said.

Hushpuppy, known for his reckless display of wealth on social media, was arrested three days ago for allegedly hacking into the United States (US) unemployment database and impersonating citizens eligible for unemployment funds.

He and his associates in Nigeria, Dubai and other countries allegedly defrauded the US of more than $ 100 million intended for native Americans in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Global Gist Nigeria reports that his arrest came three days after he posted a photo of his recently purchased 2020 Rolls Royce Cullinan, worth about $ 280 million, the latest addition to his fleet of exotic cars.

It was alleged that Khushpuppi was arrested along with two of his friends after weeks of investigation by the US Secret service, after an alert was raised in may about a criminal group of suspected Nigerians who hacked into citizens ‘ personal information and used bogus unemployment claims to steal hundreds of millions of dollars reserved for helping unemployed Americans.

They allegedly used information stolen from emergency responders, government employees and school employees.

On November 1, 2018, Hushpuppi shared a photo of himself with Wizkid. The two were seen hanging out somewhere in Dubai.

Hushpuppi meets Manchester city defender

On March 26, 2019, Hushpuppi shared a photo of himself with Manchester city and France defender Benjamin Mendy. Although the nature of the relationship between the Instagram celebrity and the footballer could not be established, he captioned the picture: “I would like to play for Manchester city and be humble and down-to-earth like my brother Ben Mendy. Thank you for being the most amazing person in the world, bro.”

Clashes with Nigerian celebrities

But on December 14, 2015, he shared a photo of himself and Momfa, announcing to his followers that they were both flying to Malaysia on a private jet for some business deals after spending millions on designer shoes, bags and clothing. However, there are unconfirmed reports that the relationship between the two Instagram celebrities has since soured.

Interestingly, Khushpuppi was arrested in Dubai exactly eight months after Momfa was arrested in Abuja by the EFCC’s economic and financial crimes Commission on fraud charges.
