The European data protection Committee decided to check the popular social network TikTok after a meeting in Brussels, RIA Novosti reported on June 10, citing the Committee’s message.
It is noted that the Committee decided to create a working group to coordinate further actions and develop a broader vision of the work of the social network on the territory of the European Union.
In November 2019, US national security agencies began investigating the owner of TikTok, a Chinese company called ByteDance Technology.

The social network was launched in September 2016. Initially, it was called Douyin and was aimed only at Chinese users. In 2017, the company launched its “copy” called TikTok. Now this platform has offices all over the world. In September 2019, ByteDance opened its office in Moscow.
