Within a few days, the production of BMW cars at the Kaliningrad Avtotor will be suspended due to a lack of components. The fact is that BMW factories in Europe and the United States, which produce car kits for Assembly in Russia, did not supply them for some time due to the pandemic. The recent wave of temporary closures of production sites around the world continues to remind us even after the removal of the quarantine. Recall that production at the autor itself was previously suspended from March 30 to April 13. It produces sedans of the fifth and seventh series, as well as crossovers X1, X3, X4, X5, X6 and X7 in the most popular configurations.

However, there is no need to worry: as reported by the General Director of avtotora Ruslan Sadykov in an interview with Kommersant, production is planned to resume in early July. Now the plant’s capacity is loaded by 70%, and the production of cars of other brands (Kia, Hyundai, Genesis, Chery, FAW, Foton) will continue in the same mode. The Russian representative office of BMW believes that it will be possible to completely solve the problem of the lack of components in the second half of July. It is possible that in the coming months, similar situations will be repeated at other Russian factories, as many foreign enterprises, even after resuming work for the safety of employees, have significantly reduced production, and components will simply not be enough.
