What appeared as a silent war in the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ekiti State hit a new high as supporters of Governor Kayode Fayemi and Senator Babafemi Ojudu have remained at loggerheads, fighting dirty since yesterday on an Ekiti Whatsapp Group.

Fayemi and Ojudu were called several unprintable names by the warring supporters, with Ojudu supporters insinuating that Fayemi stole billions of Naira as Minister and that he did not actually win the 2018 governorship election.

This is not unconnected with the court case instituted by a faction of the party led by Senator Ojudu, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s in-law, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo and some other big wigs on the party’s wards, local governments and state executive committees.

The plaintiffs are contending that the APC did not conduct Ward, Local Government and State Congresses in Ekiti State, and seeking declaration that the party’s Wards, Local Governments and State Executive Committee were holding office illegally.

Reports has it that the party executives were handpicked at the discretion of Governor Kayode Fayemi without respect to the electoral laws and the party’s constitution, a decision the Ojudu camp is challenging in court.

On Monday, June 1, an Abuja High court ordered service by substitution, the notice of the case to all parties involved.

When the matter came up in the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, counsel to the plaintiffs, Senator Tony Adeniyi, told the Court that Paul Omotosho and others in the APC State Executive Committee have been evading service.

After listening to the submission of the counsel to the plaintiffs, the court granted the prayers and ordered that the substituted service by pasting the originating processes and other accompanied processes at Number 156, Ajilosun Street, Ado Ekiti secretariat of the APC are the matter was adjourned till June 17, 2020 for report of service.

The report of the court proceeding sparked frenzy on popular social networks where supporters of both factions hauled insults on themselves and their leaders.

That was not the first time the two out of other factions in the party will clash. Recall that at the beginning of the administration, serious crisis ensued which led to the closure of some of their Local Government Party Secretariats, especially in Ikole and other places for weeks before seeming normalcy returned.

Just last Friday, sources close to the leadership of the party in a local government expressed shock on how some party stalwarts who did not belong to government faction popularly called “JKF Tokan Tokan” were chased out of a meeting held in a local government secretariat by a faction loyal to Governor Fayemi.

In the same meeting, an Assembly member who is a decampee was seriously humiliated by the Fayemi faction for what they termed as act of disloyalty.

Recently, one of the numerous factions, out of frustration, decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The leader of the defectors Chief Segun Oni cited poor treatment of his followers as part of his decision to pull out of the terribly fractured and fast sinking sheep of Ekiti APC.

Unlike Oni, Senator Ojudu led faction seems not to be ready for defection as the party’s fate rest on the alter of justice, they are ready to fight for the heart and soul of the party in the court of law.
