The restyled family of the fifth G30 series is immediately presented almost in its entirety: sedan, station wagon, petrol and diesel variants, hybrids… The only thing missing is the top version of the BMW M5, which will have a separate presentation. Meanwhile, the modernization of the five turned out to be quite significant.
The updated cars differ from the previous cars in different optics. Headlights-with a modified shape and L-shaped running lights, matrix LEDs and laser-phosphor high beam are offered for an additional fee. Rear lights – in the old buildings, but with other, larger “veins”. Revised bumper design, enlarged nostrils gained a Central bridge, exhaust pipes in the form of a trapezoid became standard.
The most noticeable update in the cabin — virtual devices, already known for crossovers X5/X6/X7. However, the designers did not change the architecture of the front panel: the climate control panel and the light switch handle remained the same. On the steering wheel-new push-button blocks, revised set of finishing materials.
The media system has switched to the new BMW OS 7.0 operating system with remote update function. The previous optional screen with a diagonal of 10.25 inches became standard, and you can order a 12.3-inch “TV” for an additional fee. Even on the” five ” debuted a new navigation system BMW Maps: compared with the previous one, it more accurately plots routes and has a more flexible search tool. Updated and a wide range of safety electronics: for example, adaptive cruise control can now not only bring the car to overtake (on the signal from the turn signal), but also return to its lane.
The set of engines on the Russian market will not change, except that the m550d version (400 HP) has disappeared: BMW refuses the complex and expensive four-turbo diesel. But in Europe, the engine range has been seriously shaken up, and now all modifications meet the new Euro 6d economy standards. Petrol engines on the 520i (2.0 l, 184 HP), 530i (2.0 l, 252 HP), 540i (340 HP) and M550i (530 HP) versions have a new injection system.
All diesels now have dual-flow turbochargers, with the recoil remaining the same only for the 520d version (2.0 l, 190 HP, 400 Nm). The three-liter engine of the BMW 530d is boosted from 265 HP and 620 Nm to 286 HP and 650 Nm, and the 540D modification – from 320 HP and 680 Nm to 340 HP and 700 Nm. And all petrol and diesel versions with four and six cylinders on the European market now have a 48-volt starter-generator-this hybrid surplus of 11 HP helps in the first seconds of acceleration and works within the start-stop system. The eight-speed automatic is the same for everyone.
The range of fully charged hybrids has been significantly expanded. First, the existing modification of the BMW 530e with a two-liter turbocharger and an electric motor (292 HP at the peak) will be offered starting in the fall not only with a sedan body, but also in the form of a station wagon (with rear or all-wheel drive). And secondly, around the same time, the second, more powerful hybrid BMW 545e will be released on the market.
It has a three-liter “six” under the hood with a capacity of 286 HP, which works in tandem with an electric motor (109 HP). the Total return is 394 HP and 600 Nm! This sedan with a standard all-wheel drive can accelerate to “hundreds” in 4.7 seconds, the maximum speed-the traditional 250 km/h. In electric mode, the BMW 545e can drive 54-57 km (on the NEDC cycle), the maximum speed in this case is 140 km / h. Passport fuel consumption is only 2.4 l/100 km. By the way, the new Navigator added a function for hybrids to automatically switch to electric traction when entering the “green” zone.
The start of production of the updated “fives” in Germany is scheduled for July. This means that the cars will reach dealers by autumn, and the Kaliningrad-built cars will appear even later. In Russia, only the starting price has been announced so far, and it has increased by 100,000 rubles to 3 million 470 thousand rubles.
