The first launch since 2011 of the American manned ship Crew Dragon by SpaceX, which was supposed to take place on May 27 at 23:33 Moscow time, was postponed due to weather conditions. This became known during the live broadcast.
The launch was canceled 16 minutes before the countdown due to the danger of lightning hitting the ship.
The next launch is scheduled for May 30 at 22: 22 Moscow time. Docking with the International space station is scheduled for May 31.
The launch was supposed to be the first experience of sending a manned spacecraft into space for Elon Musk’s company. On Board Crew Dragon, NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob benken were scheduled to go to the International space station.
For the US, this is the first launch of astronauts on their own Shuttle since 2011. Before the launch, the ship passed all tests and checks and was found suitable for launch.
US President Donald trump and Vice President Mike Pence arrived at Cape Canaveral to watch the launch.
Crew Dragon is a manned modification of the Dragon cargo ship that delivers cargo to the ISS.
In March 2019, Crew Dragon made its first test flight to the ISS.
