The number of detected cases of coronavirus infection in Russia exceeded 221 thousand people, so the country came in third place in terms of ranks of infected people, according to data from the statistical Bureau Worldometer on the morning of Monday, may 11.
The ranks first place is taken by the United States of America at the moment, the number of infected people in the country is more than 1 million 367 thousand people. Immediately after the United States is Spain, where more than 264 thousand people were infected with the coronavirus.
Earlier it was reported that over the past day, 11,656 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Russia. on May 10, the country ranked fifth in the number of infected people in the world.
On the same day, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) office in Russia, Melita Vujinovich, admitted that the country could reach the peak of coronavirus incidence.
According to her, there are still new cases, but the growth rate has stabilized.
Against the background of the epidemic, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared the period from March 30 to May 11 inclusive a period of non-working days with salary preservation. In addition, there is a self-isolation regime in Russian regions. On May 11, the head of state is scheduled to hold a regular meeting on the situation with coronavirus, where, in particular, the possibility of further extending the non-working days will be discussed.
