Oleg Kovalev, who served as the Governor of the Ryazan region from 2008 to 2017, then appointed a Senator from the region, died on May 11 at the age of 71, his assistant Andrey Glazunov told the media.
“He died suddenly at home on the night of 10-11 [May],” the source said, adding that the Senator had not complained about his health recently and was working as usual.
The head of The United Russia faction in the state Duma, Sergei Neverov, also announced Kovalev’s death. According to him, the death was caused by a disease that the Senator suffered from.
