Germany Federal intelligence service considers the accusations of the us President Donald trump’s administration against China on the situation with the COVID-19 to be a distraction. This was reported on Friday, May 8, by the magazine Der Spiegel, citing its own sources.
According to German journalists, Germany intelligence requested proof of the claims of laboratory origin of COVID-19 from its partners in the five Eyes intelligence network (USA, Australia, great Britain, Canada and New Zealand). However, none of the special services confirmed these theses.
According to media reports, intelligence in a message to Germany defense Minister Annegret Kramp Karrenbauer called trump’s statements “a calculated distraction”.
In particular, the note says that the us President is trying to use laboratory theory to “distract from his own mistakes and direct the anger of Americans at China.”
At the same time, according to Germany intelligence, China was trying to influence the World Health Organization (WHO) at the highest level so that it would not rush to declare a pandemic.
According to Germany intelligence estimates, China’s information policy has caused the world to lose four to six weeks to fight the virus.
On may 3, US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo said that the States have “huge evidence” that the new coronavirus originated in a laboratory in Wuhan. However, on May 7, Pompeo expressed doubts about the reliability of this information.
In turn, on April 28, trump noted that he is considering several options for” punishing ” the PRC for the coronavirus. He did not rule out that the US will demand monetary compensation in the tens of billions of dollars. The next day, Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov condemned attempts to make claims against China over the pandemic.
According to Worldometer on May 8, in total, the coronavirus was detected in more than 3.93 million people, more than 271 thousand people died, and 1.35 million recovered.
