A scientist of the Russian Academy of Sciences announced Russia’s access to a plateau by COVID-19

Russian Federation is reaching a plateau in the incidence of coronavirus. This was stated by the Director of the medical research and education center of Moscow state University, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Armais Kamalov.

“We are already slowly reaching the plateau,” the specialist said on Friday, May 8. According to him, the total number of detected cases of coronavirus continues to grow, but this is primarily due to the increase in the number of tests conducted.

As the head of the Ministry of health Mikhail Murashko said earlier on Friday, the ratio of the number of recovering patients and patients admitted to medical institutions with coronavirus is leveled. The day before, Rospotrebnadzor allowed the absence of a pronounced peak in the spread of coronavirus in Russia.

Director of the Central research Institute of epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vasily Akimkin, for his part, admitted that in Russia there may be a smoothed peak in morbidity.

As of may 8, the total number of detected cases of COVID-19 in Russia reached 187,859 people, 1,723 patients died, and 26,608 recovered.
