Northern fleet comments on the attempt to intercept the Tu-142 over neutral waters

Russian Tu-142 long-range anti-submarine aircraft performed scheduled training flights over the neutral waters of the Norwegian, Northern and Barintsev seas, strictly observing international rules. This was reported on April 29 in the press service of the Northern fleet, confirming the support of aircraft by Norwegian and British fighters.
The duration of the flight task was more than 12 hours.
It is noted that the pilots have worked out the skills of passing a given course over undirected terrain and coordination of actions when piloting in the absence of ground-based air navigation facilities.
The press service also commented on the attempt of British and Norwegian fighters to intercept the Tu-142.
The Northern fleet confirmed that at certain stages of the route, Russian aircraft were accompanied by f-16 and F-35 fighters of the Norwegian air force and British Typhoon fighters.
The Russian military stressed that all aviation flights were performed in strict accordance with International rules for the use of airspace.
On April 20, the defense Ministry told about the interception of a us Navy aircraft near Russian facilities in Syria. A Russian su-35 fighter jet was being lifted from the Khmeimim air base to identify it.
