US court refuses to release the Russian Firsov during the pandemic

The American court refused to release on bail the suspect in the sale of personal data of the Russian Kirill Firsov, who indicated a high risk of Contracting coronavirus in prison. This was reported on April 28 by RIA Novosti with reference to the court order.

Firsov provided judge Allison Goddard with a certificate, which shows that he has been suffering from bronchial asthma for the past 10 years, and asked to be released for the duration of the pandemic on bail of $250 thousand.

In turn, prosecutors pointed to the likelihood of the Russian escaping from the United States, and also stressed that Firsov does not take any medications for asthma. In addition, they said, no coronavirus infection was detected in the California prison where he is being held.

The court supported the prosecution’s arguments and agreed that the measures taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state and prison were sufficient.

Firsov was detained on March 7 at new York’s John F. Kennedy airport, suspected of selling personal data. At the same time, he is charged in California.

According to us intelligence agencies, the Russian allegedly facilitated the sale of personal data through an online platform Deer.IO. There are two criminal episodes in his case. The main reason for the detention is data purchases made by agents of the Federal Bureau of investigation.

According to the latest data, the number of people infected with the new coronavirus in the United States has exceeded 1 million people. The most severe situation with infected people is observed in the state of new York. More than 295,000 people have already fallen ill there.

The United States also ranks first among countries in the number of deaths due to coronavirus infection. To date, 57,266 patients with COVID-19 have died there.
