In Russia the number of cybercrimes increases by 84%

In Russia, in the three months of 2020, the number of crimes involving the use of IT technologies increased by almost 84% compared to the same period last year. This is reported by the Ministry of internal Affairs on Wednesday, April 15.
Due to this factor, the crime rate in the country as a whole increased by 4% over the specified period.
“Cybercrime continues to have a significant impact on the criminal situation. The number of IT crimes increased by 83.9%, and the share of such acts reached 19.9% of the total number, ” the press service of the Department told TASS.
The number of frauds in March this year increased by 48.5% compared to last year, while the number of crimes involving electronic means of payment has more than doubled.
At the same time, compared to March 2019, the number of murders and attempted murders, robberies and robberies has decreased in the country.
In March, the head of the Prosecutor General’s office, Igor Krasnov, said that cases of cyber fraud in Russia are almost not disclosed.
According to him, the number of cybercrimes in the country over the past five years has increased more than 25 times: from 11 thousand to 295 thousand. Only 9% of them are disclosed.
