In Russia, the Federal medical and biological Agency (FMBA) on Friday, April 10, presented a test system based on chips for detecting coronavirus. They can detect the presence of infection in 15-20 minutes.
The test system, as specified in the press service of the Agency, is a 96-hole tablet with optical registration of results.
“This test system has also been developed in the center for technologies and microfabrication of the FSCC FHM of the FMBA of Russia. It allows us to conduct research on the presence of antibodies to the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection in the biomaterial, “RIA Novosti quotes the FMBA.
It is reported that documents for registration of this system will be submitted at the beginning of next week.
On April 7, Veronika Skvortsova, head of the FMBA, announced the development of such chips in Russia for detecting coronavirus. They are based on isothermal amplification, i.e. detection of the virus. Unlike conventional polymerase chain reaction, these chips do not require different temperatures in different phases of the study. The isotherm at a temperature of about 60 degrees allows you to detect the virus in an accelerated mode.
On the same day, Skvortsova said that the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus vaccine developed by the FMBA should be expected by the end of the year.
The world health organization (who), in turn, included this vaccine in the list of promising vaccines. To date, the drug has already been tested on animals and its ability to form a specific immune response to the new coronavirus has been proven.
Previously, the Agency has initiated comparative clinical trials of three drugs for the treatment of patients with coronavirus: gidroksihlorohina, mefloquine and kaliavina.
As of April 10, the number of people infected with coronavirus in Russia exceeded 11.9 thousand, 94 patients died, and 795 people recovered.
