Russia will not cancel state exams and diploma protection due to COVID-19

State examinations and diploma protection in Russian universities will not be canceled in 2020 due to the current epidemiological situation. This was announced on Thursday, April 9, by the head of the Ministry of education and science Valery Falkov.
“We assume that all exams, even final or qualification exams, diploma defense-the absolute majority can be organized online. As the receipt and delivery”, he said in an interview to the RBC TV channel, reports TASS.
On April 6, classes resumed in Russian universities. They are conducted remotely. Most universities have organized a high-level process of remote study.
On March 31, the Ministry allowed the possibility of remote protection of diplomas due to the spread of coronavirus infection. As noted by Falkov, in the case of remote exams, facial recognition technology can be applied. On the same day, the Ministry of education and science decided to postpone the entrance tests at universities.
On March 29, the authorities of Moscow and the Moscow region introduced a mandatory home self-isolation regime for residents regardless of age. Subsequently, such restrictive measures were introduced in other regions of the country.
