More than 4 thousand cases of coronavirus detects in Germany in a day


Over the past 24 hours, 4003 new cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Germany. This is reported by Reuters with reference to the Robert Koch Institute on Wednesday, April 8.

The death toll from the infection increased by 254 people and totaled 1,861 patients. There are 103,228 cases in the country.

On April 1, it became known that the German authorities intend to extend measures against the spread of the coronavirus until at least April 19.

In Germany, citizens are forbidden to gather in groups of more than two, cultural and leisure centers and parks are closed, and the service sector is stopped. While on the street, people should keep a distance of 1.5 m from each other.

On April 6, German Chancellor Angela Merkel allowed the introduction of mandatory medical masks in the country in case the situation with the spread of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus worsens.

An outbreak of COVID-19 pneumonia caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus occurred in Wuhan, China, in late December. Outside of China, the disease has been diagnosed in patients in more than 180 countries. On March 11, the world health organization (WHO) declared a coronavirus pandemic in the world.


According to Worldometers on April 8, more than 1.4 million people are infected with the coronavirus worldwide, and more than 82 thousand people have died.
