COVID-19: Kuban extend quarantine til April 12

On the territory of the Krasnodar territory, the quarantine regime has been extended until April 12 as a measure to combat coronavirus. This was announced by the Governor of the region Veniamin Kondratev on April 5.

In an address to residents, he stressed that quarantine is the only effective way to stop the spread of coronavirus infection.

“I appeal to you once again with a huge request, let’s have the stamina and patience for another seven days. We have no other way to be sure of stabilizing the epidemiological situation in the province. We cannot allow the situation to deteriorate, ” the press service of the Krasnodar territory administration quoted him as saying.

Kondratev thanked those who follow the instructions of the authorities. He admitted that the number of people infected with the coronavirus will increase in the near future, but, according to him, new patients will not be able to infect other people due to the “isolation of each of us.”

The Governor called on citizens to take care of their loved ones, and also pointed to the need to help small and medium-sized businesses maintain economic stability. Measures to support entrepreneurs will be announced on April 6.

Quarantine in the province was introduced on March 31. Earlier, on March 28, the region suspended bus service between cities and districts of the region, flights within municipalities were reduced. Flights between Sochi and Krasnodar have also been canceled, and the authorities are considering suspending commuter trains.

As of April 5, 39 people were confirmed to have the coronavirus in the Krasnodar region. Four patients were cured and there were no deaths.

In total, 5389 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in Russia, 658 of them in the last 24 hours. 355 people were cured. 45 patients died. Most regions have introduced a self-isolation regime, following the example of Moscow and the Moscow region, which did so on March 29.
